Several days ago, I spotted some beautiful spider webs on my Holly tree and this got me thinking about the symbolism of webs. One of the main themes tends to be interconnectedness and symbolises our connection with each other, nature and the universe. The sheer brilliance of the construction of the web and its strength from something so seemingly fragile like a strand of silk is another beautiful metaphor. On a more darker note, webs can also symbolise entrapment, decay and stagnation especially when located in the dark corners of rooms. Finally, the web symbolises perseverance and resilience as illustrated by the unwavering dedication the spider shows to repairing and maintaining its precious web.
